It seems like every one is getting a body piercing. Eyebrow rings are one of the most common piercings. Normal healing time for an eyebrow piercing is five to six weeks but the better you care for it, the quicker it heals. Many people put themselves though unnecessary pain by not taking care of their piercings. Improper care of piercing can lead to infections. These infections can be avoided though following simple rules. Read on to learn how to care for an eyebrow ring.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Salt
  • Water
  • Tissues
  • Antibacterial soap
  1. Step 1

Make some salt water using table salt in warm water. Apply this solution using a cotton ball. Leave on the piercing for two to three minutes to ensure the ring is clean. It is really important to make sure all dirt and crust is off the eyebrow ring because anything left can cause an infection. Rinse the eyebrow ring with water.

  2. Step 2

Move your clean jewelry gently though the piercing. This will make sure that there is no dirt hidden on the ring.

  3. Step 3

Dry the piercing after your shower with a clean tissue or piece of toilet paper. Be careful to gently pat the piercing, rubbing it will hurt the piercing.

  4. Step 4

Wash your piercing at least three times a day. Make sure to clean your piercing properly after you do anything that could introduce dirt or irritants to the piercing. Use some antibacterial soap to clean the jewelery.

  5. Step 5

Leave jewelry in for six months. If you take it out before six months the holes will grow in. It's more difficult to pierce over scar tissue.

  6. Step 6

Sleep on the side opposite the piercing. This minimizes the movement on the ring. This also helps prevent you pulling on the jewelry or getting it caught on the pillow at night.

  7. Step 7

Clean your bed sheets. This helps prevent the introduction of dirt or germs that might cause an infection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wash your hands with antibacterial soap before touching your piercing.
  • Use gauze over the piercing while you sleep the first couple night.
  • Lavender oil promotes healing.
  • Do not use cosmetics such as make-up, hair products, lotions, creams or gels around your piercing.
  • Do not use towels on your piercing. Towels allow germs to sit. Plus they can tug on the ring.
