Things You'll Need:
- Ammo can geocache container
- Camouflage print duct tape
- Spray adhesive
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Sticks or twigs
- Dry grass
- Tree bark
- Dirt
-
Step 1
Clean the outside of the ammo can to remove all dust and debris. The camouflage decorations will not stick if you do not start with a clean surface. Let the ammo can dry completely before beginning.
-
Step 2
Spray a path of waterproof spray adhesive onto one side of the ammo can. Be careful not to get it in the seal, latches, or hinge. Before the spray adhesive dries, sprinkle dirt or sand over the section and pat it gently to help it stick. You should use dirt that is similar to that in the area you intend to hide the geocache. Camouflage is site specific. Continue this application until most of the ammo can geocache is covered.
-
Step 3
Heat the glue gun and insert a glue stick that is waterproof. Using the glue, attach an assortment of sticks, tree bark, dried leaves, small stones, and dry grasses to your geocache. For the best camouflage, these items should be gathered from the area you intent to place the geocache. If it will be under pine trees, include pine straw and pine cones. If it will be in an oak forest, dry oak leaves are your best bet.
