Things You'll Need:
- 2 yards of cleaned fabric
- Boppy pillow for a pattern
- Tracing chalk or wheel
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
-
Step 1
Wash and dry the chosen material first before cutting. Fold the dry fabric in half with the right sides together.
-
Step 2
Place the Boppy pillow in the center of the folded fabric. Trace around the Boppy with chalk about 3 to 4 inches larger than the pillow itself, like a Boppy pillow crime scene.
-
Step 3
Keeping the fabric together, cut out the two layers of material following the chalk line.
-
Step 4
On one layer of the fabric, measure in about 8 inches from the end and cut across the fabric to get a thumb-less mitten sized piece.
-
Step 5
Use this mitten-sized piece as a pattern and place it right side down on another piece of fabric, facing down. Trace exactly around the mitten, except extend the wrist area 2 more inches.
-
Step 6
Cut out the new, longer wristed mitten piece. Discard the piece used for a pattern and use this new piece for the Boppy cover.
-
Step 7
Fold over the flat side of the new mitten piece, wrong sides together, and sew a 5/8 inch seam. Do the same on the flat side of the matching U piece and make a hemmed edge.
-
Step 8
Place the large cut U piece with the uncut U piece, right sides together and sew the two sides together, leaving the cut end open.
-
Step 9
Line up the edges of the mitten piece with the solid U-piece, and sew the mitten to the rest of the Boppy pillow, leaving the hemmed edge open.
-
Step 10
Turn the Boppy cover right side out, leaving the mitten piece inside out.
-
Step 11
Slip the Boppy cover over the Boppy pillow. Turn the mitten right side out and cover the end of the Boppy. Smooth the seams.
