Determine how many cheetahs will be living in the designated area. Females are more independent and solitary while males prefer to live in small groups.

Install steel fencing around the area where the habitat will be created. There needs to be enough room for trees, tall grass and a water hole. A separate area should be designated as the feeding area. The separate feeding area should have two sliding doors that lock, which will allow you to keep the cheetah out while you put the food in the room.

Plant tall grass and a few trees in the habitat. Replicate the look of a savannah or grassland. A cheetah's spots help camouflage it in the grass, because this is where it stalks its prey. In addition, the trees and grass provide a cool shelter for the cheetah during the hotter weather.

Dig a five foot watering hole where the cheetahs can drink from and be social. Lining will need to be placed in the ground so that the water doesn't soak through the dirt or sand.

Create a winding dirt or sand path through the middle of the habitat and plant the tall grass around it. The habitat should reflect its natural habitat.
