How to Beat the No Fighting in the War Room Level of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

This is it. Throughout Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, you have been fighting with the singular objective of preventing a nuclear terrorist attack from taking place. The missiles are launched, but it's not too late. All you have to do is take the enemy missile compound from hundreds of soldiers and input the missile strike abortion codes--that you don't have yet. The intensity of the action is dialed up to maximum in the "No Fighting In the War Room" level--it's going to take everything you have and even more that you don't to survive.

Instructions

    • 1

Follow your team through the vents into the enemy missile compound. Once you naturalize the enemies in the bathroom where you end up, you will be informed you have only 11 minuets to abort the missiles before they do to the American way of life what video did to the radio star.

    • 2

Turn left out of the bathroom. You will go down several long sparsely populated corridors before encountering heavy resistance.

    • 3

Pick up a shotgun as soon as you can.

    • 4

Use a zig-zag pattern of movement to get through the warehouse section of the base. Take cover behind crates, but don't go right for the exit as enemies will follow you and shoot you in the back before long. In the long run, it's better to take out all the enemies in these areas before moving on. Hit an area, move up a position or two, then double back and hit an area in a new direction. Your teammates will engage enemies directly, so a zig-zag pattern will catch quite a few of them in the back. It will also keep the enemy forces off balance for the entire fight, and quick movements will keep enemy cross-hairs off you. These areas are chaotic, so the worst thing you can do is to stop moving. This will let enemies catch you in the back.

    • 5

Head off to the right or the left, once you come to a long, narrow corridor with paths that branch off in two directions. It doesn't matter which way you choose, the paths are mirror images of one another, and the central corridor is much more difficult. This is one of the most difficult areas of the level, as the enemy is plentiful and holds every bottleneck firmly. You will have to use grenades, automatic weapons and shotguns to get past this section. When approaching a bottleneck (a narrow section with no cover where the enemy holds the other side), toss a grenade to the end to disorient the enemy, follow up with machine gun fire as you run the gauntlet, then switch to your shotgun as you break into the next room. This is a risky maneuver, but you don't have time to exchange fire for long.

    • 6

Repeat this maneuver to get past the several bottlenecks in this area. You might have to try a few times, but it's better than getting to the end and running out of time.

    • 7

Follow your team once you get past this section.

    • 8

Plant your charges where directed as your team prepares to breach the control room. Once in you will have to take out several guards. Most are located at the back of the room, up the stairs.

    • 9

Get to the glowing console and put in those abortion codes!

    • 10

Follow your team up the elevator to the garage. Now that you've saved the world, it's time to worry about yourself.

Tips & Warnings

  • Move fast, but not too fast. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare demands a precise pace from players on every level, but no more so in this one. Dawdling, or even getting pinned down for a minute, will result in a mission failure in the form of a nuclear winter. But moving too fast in this extremely difficult level is a good way to get shot. Follow your team, don't be afraid to rush the lone enemy, toss grenades with abandon, use your melee attack, switch ammo-depleted weapons on the fly, sprint wherever you go, and you might make it in time without dying 50 times in the process.

  • When running up an enemy-held bottleneck, keep up the automatic fire even if there aren't any enemies to shoot at. Short bursts of fire directed at the corners of the next room will keep them pinned down and unable to return any fire, and you should switch to a shotgun once you get to that room anyway. Always leave 6 or 7 rounds in case you drain your shotgun magazine, though.

  • When tossing grenades, push and hold the grenade button for 3 seconds before throwing the grenade. This will burn most of the fuse, allowing the grenade to explode on impact. This makes it much easier for an accurate throw to take out enemies, as they won't have time to get out of the way.

  • There is a large blast door that opens remotely which opens extremely slowly once you are approaching the control room. Until you have past it, take about 30 seconds off your remaining time, as that's about how long the door will take to open.
