It is lovely to look at the grape bunches hanging down off the arbor. It almost feels like a trip to Italy to see the grapes growing on the vines. It does not take much time to build an arbor; grape vines grow easily and are quite hardy. Does this Spark an idea?

Create a Quiet Spot to Relax with a Grape Vine Arbor
-
1
Build a grape vine arbor and your yard will have a new cool place to relax in the shade. Use water resistant wood to build the arbor. Dig a hole to impale the wood poles into the ground to stabilize them. Create a tall, rectangle shape box with the wood. Then nail planks across from side to side to form a lattice work covering on the structure. Make the structure tall enough so that adults may sit in a chair under the structure.
-
2
Check the structure for stability and add more nails to the roof covering to ensure it is firmly anchored together.

3
Purchase grape vine plants at a garden center or at a flea market. Soak the roots in water before planting. Then dig a hole on either side of the arbor structure. Add several more holes behind the structure. Make sure the holes are wider than the roots of the grape vine bushes.
-
4
Plant the grape vine bushes and water them well. Then stomp on the ground around the plants to remove any air bubbles in the soil. Water the plants frequently as they begin to adjust to their new environment.
-
5
As the plants grow the tendrils will start to wrap around the arbor. Eventually the plants will provide dense coverage of the arbor. Grape vine plants have abundant leaves, and eventually your grape bunches will start to appear too.
