A book of gift certificates brings a lot of joy to the recipient. It is an easy gift to create and you may personalize it by choosing certificates you know the gift recipient will enjoy. You may want to include certificates for a dinner out, a massage or a day at a sporting event. Other ideas include giving certificates for babysitting, running errands for someone, for a weekend away or for a special store.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Gift certificates
  • Journal or book to use as holder for the certificates
  • Poster board
  • Glue
  • Colored markers
  1. Step 1

Purchase a journal or use a book you have at home to create a holder for the gift certificates. You may use a journal that comes with pockets or add some pockets by gluing on stiff poster board. Write a letter at the start of the journal detailing how important the person is to you. Then start collecting certificates to add to the journal.

  2. Step 2

Think about the hobbies of the gift recipient. If he likes sports get a certificate or tickets to a sporting event or buy a certificate to a sporting store. You may also want to create a certificate for a day's outing together to a local sporting event. If he's a music lover you may want to include tickets to a concert or a card for music downloads.

  3. Step 3

Include some certificates that relate to pampering to make the person feel special. The certificates may be for a day at a spa, a massage, a manicure or a hair cut. If she is a devotee of a certain type of exercise such as yoga you may want to include certificates for lessons or equipment for the activity.

  4. Step 4

Figure out what his favorite restaurant is by asking friends or family and get a certificate for a meal there. You may want to mention on the certificate that you will share the meal with him, or just give the certificate and tell him to take someone special.

  5. Step 5

Be creative and offer certificates for other services. A busy mother would love a certificate for babysitting or doing her errands or laundry. Someone who travels a lot for work would love a certificate that says you will watch her pet while she is away.

Tips & Warnings
  • Give yourself time to research what certificates would most please the gift recipient.
  • Make the book you create colorful and include photos and letters to the person who will receive the gift..
  • You may want to set a gift giving budget and stick to it.
