Things You'll Need:
- 1 Small pedestal wooden table
- Broken crockery or ceramic tiles
- Grout
- Glue and glue gun
- 1 Small can of semi gloss paint
- Paint brush
- Sponge
- Rubber gloves
- Sandpaper
- Small hammer
- Dish towel
- Small bag of marbles
-
Step 1
Go to the craft store and buy a small can of semi gloss, paint brushes, sandpaper, glue gun and grout.
-
Step 2
Go around your house and gather up any old chipped dinnerware, crockery or ceramic tiles. Put on your gloves. Put the chipped dishes, old pieces of crockery or left over ceramic tiles in a cloth and break them with a hammer into 1 to 2 inch pieces. If the larger pieces have nice design or textures they may be used as center pieces within the table top. Put the pieces into a bowl beside you so that you can pick the pieces easily while decorating the top of the table.
-
Step 3
Clean off the old table. Wash it and dry it. Lightly sand the surface.
-
Step 4
Arrange the crockery pieces, broken dishes or tiles around the top of the table. Leave about 1/2 in to 1/4 inch between the shards. Attach the pieces to the table top with the glue gun. Let the glue dry completely.
-
Step 5
Mix the grout according to the instruction on the package. Spread the grout over the entire top of the table. Smooth the grout in between the shards with your fingers. Wipe off any grout that may have gone on the edges of the table.
-
Step 6
Allow the grout to dry completely. Add another coat of grout to the surface to even out the top. Let the second layer of grout dry.
-
Step 7
Paint the rest of the table with the semi-gloss paint. Allow the paint to dry overnight.
-
Step 8
Glue the marbles to the rim of the tabletop.
