How to Apply for a Postal Job
Securing a job with the U.S. Postal Service may be easier than you think. As a postal employee, you can receive incredible benefits and excellent pay even if you don't have a college degree. Work as a mail carrier, a mail sorter, or secure a postal clerk job and get federal holidays off with pay. Applying for a postal job is easy and it only takes a few minutes of your time.

Go the the United States Postal Service website and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Click the "careers" link.

Select the "Start an online search" link on the right of the Career page to browse position openings in your area.

Click the "Search select jobs online" link.

Choose your state from the drop-down menu and a job title from the "functional area" menu. Click "start" to view available postal job openings in your area or leave all fields blank to view available positions anywhere in the country.

Choose a position from the list and click on it to read a description of the job, the job schedule, and the starting pay for the position.

Go back to the job search window and click "Apply."

Enter your name and email address, select the privacy policy agreement, and click "Save and continue."

Enter the required information on the "Personal Data" page, then click the "Work Experience" button.

Continue until you've compeleted each section of the application and then click the "Submit Application" link.

Respond to any communication you receive from USPS and look for a letter from them within a few weeks that will inform you of a qualifying test you'll need to take in order to be considered for the position of which you applied.

Take the qualifying test. If you pass the test, you'll be contacted about the position. Pass the drug test and background check and you'll be ready to start your new postal job.

You don't have to apply online for a postal job. If you'd prefer to apply through the mail, visit your local post office and ask for an application. Complete the application and mail it to the address located at the top of the page.
