In a perfect world, your anniversary would never fall on a weeknight. This would allow you and your partner to celebrate with a romantic dinner and movie or even get away for a couple days. The reality is that there are times when you must celebrate your anniversary on a weeknight. Luckily, there is a romantic way to celebrate your anniversary on a weeknight.

1. Leave work early. This may require speaking to your boss ahead of time. You may also be required to go in early or work overtime a few days before your anniversary. Most employers are okay with this, once you tell them that your anniversary falls on a weeknight.

2. Arrange for your children to spend the night at your parent’s house. Your children will love getting to spend a weeknight at their grandparents. They’ll think it’s a great treat, while you get the chance to celebrate your anniversary without interruption.

3. Celebrate with a romantic dinner at home. Depending on your work hours, you may not have time to celebrate at a restaurant on a weeknight. That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate your anniversary with a romantic dinner. In fact, it’s much more romantic to have a meal at home. It doesn’t even have to be a steak dinner. It’s actually very romantic to celebrate by preparing your partner’s favorite meal.

4. Set the mood. When you celebrate your anniversary at home, it’s important to set the mood. Get out the candles and place fresh flowers on the table. You don’t want to look around and think about everything that needs to be done around the house. Instead, you want an atmosphere that reminds you of love and romance.

5. Order a gourmet dessert. If you want to make your weeknight anniversary special, order a gourmet dessert. A gourmet dessert, ordered from another state, would be a wonderful surprise. For example, you could order a cheesecake from New York or Chicago. Go online and see what’s available.

6. Spend the rest of the evening doing something you enjoy. It doesn’t matter if you watch movies or create an at home spa. The important thing is to do something you don’t normally get to do on a weeknight. This is a time to celebrate your relationship and all the things you love to do together.
