Have a Spooky Time in Mexico

With its recorded culture going back to 1000 B.C., Mexico is an old country whose history is as dramatic as its beauty. Whether it is the Mayan ruins that draw you, the tales of notorious Pancho Villa, or the clear green waters of Cancun, Mexico has been a tourist draw for decades.Ghost hunters will find plenty to investigate here as well! Many hotels here claim to have paranormal activity and the amount of souls that have traveled through this country for pleasure, wealth or to hide from the law supports the belief that there is plenty of supernatural energy here. Want to get off the beach and go ghost hunting? Here are some hot spots.

How to Have a Spooky Time in Mexico

  1. Step 1

Start out at the Old Aqua Caliente Casino area. Now partially restored, this site is the location of a legendary love-gone–wrong murder. A singer in the 1940’s is said to have poisoned her lover ,but he shot her before he died! All this drama has created some residual hauntings including voices and apparitions. Scary!

  2. Step 2

Check into the Finestira Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, and you may get a visit from a ghostly maid! Voices have also been heard in otherwise quiet locations. Talk to staff to get their personal stories of encounters!

  3. Step 3

Head to the beautiful Playa del Carmen and check into the unnamed hotel across from the Blue Parrot Bar. Here guests frequently check out early due to otherworldly interventions, and visitors report cold spots and an overall negative presence surrounding them. Do some EVP work here.

  4. Step 4

Be sure to visit the Barrio Antiguo in Monterrey, where a well-known haunted house is now open for tours! At the site of a heinous double murder in the 1930’s, visitors report seeing the apparition of a woman and girl in white! Cool. You’ll find it at 1026 Jose Aramberri Street.

  5. Step 5

Leave Mexico via the US/Mexican border in Tijuana and you may see orbs and balls of lights floating over the border and along the water line. Is it the spirit of unfortunate immigrants who didn’t make it across? Go when it’s really dark and wait quietly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Ask at your hotel for a local guide to help you get around from place to place. This will help keep you safe and allow you to hear some personal stories from locals.
  • Ask your travel agent about Haunted Mexico tours and availability
