Naturally curly hair can have a mind of its own some days. If you are out of new styles, or sick and tired of the frizzy puff on your head, try these tips for an easy and totally trendy up-do for curly hair that is perfect for casual nights out and even work. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- A mini to small-medium claw clip (depending on hair length and thickness, the larger for the more hair you have)
- A ponytail holder (option substitute for the clip)
- Bobby pins
- Hairspray
- Shine spray/finishing spray
- A headband (thin, double banded to achieve boho look)
Instructions

1
Prepare hair. Day old hair works fine, and curls do not have to be sleek and polished--think "beachy" waves!
-
2
Gather hair an inch or so above nape of neck and secure loosely with a claw clip (as you would a pony tail, pulling back the front). Leave curly tendrils on the sides and in bang area at your own discretion, based on desired look.

3
Once hair is lightly secured, work clip around and use a mirror to check out the back of your head (ALWAYS a must when styling hair, especially up-dos!). When you have a cute, messy bun, you are good to move on to the pins.
-
4
Using bobby pins pin and twist around additional strands to achieve that natural goddess, curly bun look that is all the rage in Hollywood and so Boho.
-
5
Add the signature headband. Thin, double-banded work best to achieve this look, and the varieties of these make this look one you can change up every day. From shiny gold metallic to a soft white braided double-band, women's stores and boutiques large and small offer a great selection of this season's hottest hair accessory. As for placement on your head, you may choose to pull the headband down so it actually crosses over your forehead (think Pocahontas, in a good way), or back over the top of your head for a more traditional headband look.
-
6
Adjust front bangs/hair accordingly once headband is applied. Play around here to see what best highlights your face here, depending on what you're working with for bangs.
-
7
Add a cute decorative clip to one side (think around one inch from your temple level, up or down). This could be a jeweled pin or more extensive antique hair piece. You could even clip on your grandmother's broach to the headband itself for a very vintage inspired Boho style.

Spray and complete! Use both hairspray and shine spray (a must for curly hair!) to finish off your look. You're ready to hit the streets of L.A.!
