Avon is a popular cosmetics company that has sales representatives all over the United States. Many of the individuals who sell Avon are stay-at-home moms or individuals who are merely looking to make some extra money. Perhaps you aren’t interested in working as a an Avon rep, but would rather model for them instead. As with any other modeling job, there are certain things you must do before Avon will even consider you as a potential model.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Before you can even be considered as an employee or model for Avon, you must learn about the company. By learning more about the Avon brand, you will discover the pros and cons of working with them and, even more important, what they are looking for in a potential model.

  2. Step 2

Contact Avon's advertising department. Find out what it takes to become a model and what their expectations are. In addition, ask if they use a specific modeling agency. If they do, try to get into that agency. It will increase your chances of becoming an Avon model.

  3. Step 3

Before you will even be considered for any modeling jobs, you need to have head shots taken. The purpose of a head shot is to market your look to potential employers. Ideally, you want to have a variety of shots in order to demonstrate how versatile you are. Try to find a photographer who does good work and shares the same vision as you. Understand that this part of the process will cost you money.

  4. Step 4

When you have your head shots in order, you can put together a portfolio. The portfolio is what you take with you to your go-sees. It includes examples of your head shots and best modeling work. It’s important to have a good portfolio, because it's what sells you to potential employers.

  5. Step 5

Once your portfolio is put together, it’s time to set out to find an agent. Agents are similar to employers in that they will not take just anybody. You have to impress them with your potential in order for them to choose to represent you. On the other hand, you need to carefully consider whether or not you want to work with them. Be picky about who you choose to represent you. If you know of an agency that Avon specifically uses for models, do your best to get into that agency.

  6. Step 6

Discuss your goals with your agent. Ultimately, she will be the one to represent and market you to Avon. A good agent will know who to contact and how to market her clients. Inform your agent of what you learned in initial dealings with Avon's advertising department.

  7. Step 7

If you learn that Avon is holding a casting call, make sure you attend it. While it’s not a definite "in" to a job as a model for the company, it does get your name out there. As long as your name is in the mix, there is always a possibility that you could become a model for Avon.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you hire a photographer who does good work. Ask to look at other models' portfolios to see what you like.
  • Do not go with a photographer who does not share your vision. In order to create a good portfolio, both the photographer and the model need to be on the same page.
