How to Draw Dory From Finding Nemo

Finding Nemo is one of Disney-Pixar’s best-loved movies. Most people who have seen the movie fell in love with Dory, Martin’s very forgetful friend. In a way, Dory embodies most people, or at least, everyone has come across a person who was Dory-like. In eight steps, anyone can create Dory for a Dory in their life. Dory can be drawn using any medium.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a medium-sized elongated egg-shaped oval/circle. The egg should have the top, narrow part of the egg pointing down. Behind the egg you just drew, draw another larger one directly behind it, and connect it to the smaller egg.

    • 2

On the left side, add two open-tipped triangles for Dory’s fins. One fin should be centered, the other on the lower left. On the right, add another open-tipped triangle to the right side of the first egg shape you drew.

    • 3

To the upper portion of the first egg shape that was drawn, add one full circle to the left, and one half circle to the right. On the left, center another circle that has another circle within it, this is Dory’s iris and pupil. On the right side of the right eye, add two more half circles.

    • 4

Now add Dory’s mouth. Dory’s mouth consists of an upside down “D” on the lower portion of the first egg you drew and measures an inch long and wide. On the inside top portion of her mouth, draw a row of teeth.

    • 5

Draw a “Mohawk” on the top of Dory’s head and body. This will be her back fin. Next, draw some details on all of Dory’s fins, including stripes that are located on the edges of the middle fins, and the center stripe that is located on the bottom left fin.

    • 6

Behind the larger egg shape you drew in Step 1, Dory has ruffly fins that run underneath her belly. These ruffles are very small and run from underneath the lower left fin to about an inch to the right. Give Dory some “eyebrows” by lightly drawing a “frowny” line above her eyes.

    • 7

Add Dory’s details. Dory has a black design at the top of her body, so draw a free-form line that begins above Dory’s left eye and swoops down to the upper left fin. Near the fin, there is a blue spot, so make sure to add a hole in the black. Trace over all your guidelines to create Dory’s body.

    • 8

Erase or delete the guidelines that were created in Steps 1 and 2, and color all portions that are supposed to be black. When all guidelines are erased, you may color Dory.
