Make Money as a Stay at Home Mom

Stay at home moms should have the chance to make some money too, whether they need it, or just want it. By being creative, even parents with young children at home can earn some extra cash.

Instructions

    • 1

Cook for others. You no doubt need to cook for your own family, why not turn it into a profit? Find what you are good it and roll with it. Make sandwiches to sell at local factories, or make cupcakes to start your own business.

Do some freelance work. If you like to write, put it to good use! There are many online sites to contribute to, as well print work in all areas. Contact your local newspaper to inquire. If you like photography, do the same with your photography skills.

    • 3

Deliver newspapers or telephone books. This is great because you can take the kids along with you, and they often love to help!

    • 4

Be a pooper scooper! Believe it or not, this has turned into a profitable venture for many. Charge people to visit their homes, and clean their yards of any dog waste. If you maintain a regular schedule, this can bring in a lot of cash.

    • 5

Pet sitting. This is a great service to provide, especially if you love animals. You have the option of sitting in your house, or traveling to someone else's.

    • 6

Make and sell specialty craft items. With resources like ebay and craigslist, you may never have to leave the house! Other local stores may also agree to sell your items for you.

    • 7

Recycle aluminum, steel and/or copper. This is a great way to teach kids about the environment as well! Aside from saving aluminum cans, try visiting auto repair shops, factories or other local business to offer to take their scrap off their hands. A quick trip to the scrapyard and you have some cash in your hands.

Sell golf balls. Visit local golf courses and offer to collect all leftover golf balls in the woods, creek beds, etc. Kids have a ball at this! (No pun intended). It is also possibly to find hundreds of balls per visit, and used golf balls generally sell for $3 to $5 a dozen. (Kids can help clean them up as well, and load them into egg cartons for sale!) Flea markets are a great place to set up and sell these.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be creative- think of what you love to do, and how it can make you money.

  • Think about what needs or services are desired in the community.
