    How to Find Dinosaur Exhibits

  1. Step 1

Keyword "dinosaur" on your computer's search engine, along with the nearest big city or cities in your area. Often any museum or exhibit that currently features dinosaurs will pop up because it will be in the news and media.

  2. Step 2

Search websites of local science museums, natural history museums, children's museums, zoos and discovery centers. If there is any whiff of dinosaur bones, or in the case of some zoos, animated robot dinosaurs, these will be ripe for exploring.

  3. Step 3

Look out for special kids' shows coming to arenas in bigger towns or cities, and once in a while, dinosaurs may be featured. These could advertise in local newspapers or parents' magazines.

  4. Step 4

Insert the words "fossils" and "site" or "dig", along with your state, into your web search. Sometimes your state or a nearby state has a fossil area, in which you are allowed to dig for fossils and observe exhibits of fossils that have already been excavated. This can be a big thrill for young children. Ah, the joys of getting dirty! Check out the state tourism boards online as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Children's museums may make the dinosaurs more friendly-seeming. They will adjust the displays for young children.
  • Zoos may feature thrill rides that include IMAX or 3-D showings of dinosaur experience.
