Instructions

  1. Make Play Goo

    • 1

Collect all the ingredients you need for the craft project. This will make for a smooth, efficient process.

    • 2

Heat one cup of water to lukewarm. Stir 1 tablespoon of Borax into the water. Mix it thoroughly, making sure that all the borax is completely dissolved in the warm water before you move on to the next step.

    • 3

Pour the white glue and 1/4 cup of water into another bowl and mix them very carefully.

    • 4

Mix equal parts of both the Borax solution with equal parts of the glue solution in a Ziploc bag. Mixing ½ cup of the Borax solution with ½ cup of the glue solution will make up one cup of goo.

    • 5

Add a few drops of the food coloring, in a color or colors of your choice. Carefully seal the Ziploc bag, making sure that it is tightly zipped from one end to the other.

    • 6

Knead the contents of the bag gently to mix them thoroughly and work in the food coloring. When it has been worked in well, decide whether or not to add more food coloring to create the final results that you want.

Create Variations on the Basic Play Goo

    • 7

Vary the consistency and texture of your play goo by adding some shaving cream or baby powder.

    • 8

Make glow-in-the-dark goo by adding some drops of glow-in-the-dark paint into the mixture in step #5

    • 9

Use very fine glitter in one or more colors to create a whole range of effects

    • 10

Create transparent play goo by adding 4% solution poly-vinyl alcohol to the borax in the place of the glue. This will give the goo a pearly effect, depending on your choice of colors.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can find Borax in the laundry detergent aisle of most grocery stores
