Are you generous enough with your money that you make donations to numerous organizations? Do you keep track of the donations for tax purposes as well as other purposes? Follow these steps to find out how to track donations without a lot of hassle.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Receipts for all donations that you made or will make
  • Computer
  • Word process program such as Microsoft Word
  • Printer

Step1
Collect receipts for every donation you make. Save them in a place where you will know where to find them when you need them.
Step2
Gather all the receipts for the donations you have made thus far when you are ready to track donations on paper.
Step3
Open your word processing program on your computer. Create a new document titled "(Year) Donations."
Step4
Create a table with three columns.
Step5
Name your three columns as follows, and put them in this order: "Date," "To Whom," "Amount."
Step6
Refer back to the receipts you gathered earlier.
Step7
Use the information from your receipts to fill in the correct information under each column that you just created.
Step8
Add one new row and "merge" it.
Step9
In the row you just added and merged, type "Grand Total." This will be the grand total of all the donations you made and will make for this year.
Step10
Add a new row above the "Grand Total" row each time you make a new donation. Then, after you add that row, record the details of your donation in the three columns.
Step11
Save the document to your computer. Also print out a copy to place with your paper files, just in case something unexpected happens with the electronic file you have just created.
