Puppies are adorable as it is, but they look even cuter in bows. Grooming is a great way to bond with your new friend, and it also gets the puppy ready to meet your friends and family.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Brush
  • Bows
  • Towel
  • Shampoo
  • Hair dryer
  1. Step 1

Purchase dog shampoo and bows for your puppy. If the puppy has shorter hair, you might want to purchase a collar with a bow on it instead.

  2. Step 2

Bathe your puppy with dog shampoo and rinse thoroughly. It's beneficial for the dog to get used to baths at an early age.

  3. Step 3

Gently towel dry the puppy's hair and brush out all the tangles. Puppies like to get into things, so it's a good idea to bathe them every so often and brush out any dirt or knots in their hair.

  4. Step 4

While the puppy's hair is still wet, wrap the dog in the towel as if you are wrapping a burrito. Put the middle of the towel around the puppy's back then fold one of the ends of the towel around the dog's legs. Finally, wrap the other end of the towel over the puppy's chest and tuck the corner under the part of the towel around its back. This will prevent the puppy from running away or wriggling. The towel should be firmly around the puppy's body but not so tight that it hurts the dog.

  5. Step 5

Use your brush to comb up some of the hair on the top of the puppy's head. Hold onto this hair and put the bow on it. Most bows for dogs are similar to hair ties or they are clip ons.

  6. Step 6

If it's during the warmer months, let your puppy's hair dry naturally. If it's during the colder months, use a hair dryer to dry the puppy's hair. Make sure to hold the hair dryer at least six inches away from the dog's skin so you don't burn them. Also don't hold the hair dryer in the same place for too long.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut up ribbon and use the ribbon to tie a bow on the puppy.
  • Make sure the bow is tight but not pulling on the dog's hair.
  • It's possible that the puppy will eat the bow if it falls out so take the bow out of its hair when it goes to bed at night.
  • Don't use hair spray on the puppy or any other styling products.
