Step 1
Look for support for large busts. Wide straps, underwires, halter tops and tanks all offer the much needed support for large busts. Avoid strapless, string or unstructured bikinis. Be sure to jump, squat, and twist while trying on your new suit to make sure that you won't have any wardrobe malfunctions at the beach or pool.
-
Step 2
Look for high-cut suits for short legs. Avoid boy short bottoms or skirted suits when you've got short legs. Look for elongating styles such as high cut bikinis or even one-piece suits with plunging necklines. Solid colors will also help elongate you.
-
Step 3
Play up your hips and bust if you have a long body. Boy shorts and fun fabrics and colors will draw attention to your hips and bust and downplay a long torso. Avoid solid, dark colors and high cut bottoms. Stay away from horizontal stripes.
-
Step 4
Try a belted bottom to accentuate a waist. If you don't have a curvy waist, give the illusion that you do by trying a belted suit. This will help with your form. Play up the hips with ruffles, ties or bows. Strapless tops are great if you are small on top. Avoid solid colors and horizontal stripes.
-
Step 5
Accentuate a small bust. Padded cups, ruffles or bows are all great for the small-busted woman. Tiny bikini tops, strapless, and wild colors and prints will make you stand out. Avoid ill-fitting tops with too much fabric.
-
Step 6
Choose tanks and structured suits for plus-sizes. Avoid wild prints and nappy fabrics. Stick with something cool and sleek. Belted bottoms help with your waistline and take advantage of excellent cleavage with plunging necklines and structured cups for support. Stay away fro horizontal stripes. Skip the old lady skirted one-piece suits.
