Watching television shows online for free involves lots of trial and error. You can minimize that process by knowing where to look, recognizing which types of videos are likely to work, and staying up-to-date on the latest trends in free television show viewing. You also need to understand that copyright laws on the Internet are a bit dicey since it is inherently an international community of overlapping and conflicting regulations. With some practice, you can watch an incredible range of free television.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet connection
  • Web browser
  • Free video viewing plugins
  1. Step 1

Watch television shows online the legit way by visiting the websites of the television networks which produce the shows you want to watch. The major networks post many videos of their television shows online for free viewing. You will have to sit through short commercial breaks.

  2. Step 2

Watch free independent television by visiting Youtube, Current, and other do-it-yourself video websites. Quality tends to be lower than at the major networks, but innovation and creativity are more prevalent.

  3. Step 3

Watch mainstream television shows by visiting websites specifically devoted to television shows. This is where things get dicey, from a copyright and legal standpoint. To skirt the law, most free video websites do not actually host the television shows they offer. Instead the videos are hosted elsewhere, and the free video websites link to or embed those remotely hosted videos. Television shows can be found by searching or combing through alphabetical indexes.

  4. Step 4

Try a number of different free television show indexing websites. Some have more television show videos than others. Some embed videos of better picture quality. Some are faster to download. For example, try QuickSilverScreen as a starting point, since they offer the most working movies and television shows on the Internet. That website primarily hosts videos from Youku, Megavideo, and Veoh.

  5. Step 5

Download any necessary video viewing software. For example, Veoh has an external video player which you can download for free. This will allow you to watch videos in full screen mode.

Tips & Warnings
  • When searching for a specific television show to watch, it is most effective to Google "watch free television shows online" or "watch (show title) online for free". Still, your best bet is to check out sites that are specifically devoted to that activity, such as QuickSilverScreen.
  • Copyright laws vary by state and country. Do not share movies, television shows, or other video unless it is in the public domain.
  • External video viewers sometimes come with adware, bloatware, and other viruses. Before downloading a program, do a little background research to see what other people are saying about it.
