Nothing feels as good as slipping to a pair of worn jeans. The feeling is like slipping into pure comfort. But every now and then we must purchase new jeans to replace this worn favorites. There are many reasons for this. Size changes and new styles are just two reasons that you may have bought new jeans. No one likes the rough feeling of new jeans against their skin.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • New jeans
  • 1 washing machine
  • 1 container laundry detergent
  • 1/2 cup table salt

Step1
Place all of your new jeans into the washing machine. You will want to do this separate from other laundry so as not to wear out any other clothing in the process.
Step2
Pour 1 cap full of laundry soap into your washing machine. Add 1/2 cup of table salt into the washing machine. The salt will be the abrasive material need to soften the new jeans.
Step3
Run your washing machine on a regular cycle with a warm wash and a cold rinse cycle. This will help to give the new jeans that worn look that you crave.
Step4
Remove the jeans from the washing machine and dry them as usual. Repeat the process if a more worn and distressed look is desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • This process can also be used on denim skirts, jackets, and shirts to soften them up.
  • Left the jeans air dry so that they do not end up shrinking on you. Tossing jeans in the dryer after this process will cause them to shrink considerably.
