Just as we tend to accumulate junk in our house, we also accumulate junk in our computers. When there is too much clutter in our house, we have a day of spring-cleaning or a yard sale. When it comes to cleaning out your computer, you have to throw a lot of stuff away. But deleting anything on a computer makes some people nervous.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open your control panel by clicking on the Start button and finding the control panel icon. Some operating systems may not have the control panel icon so readily available. If you can’t find it in the start menu, try opening My Computer. It should be in one of those places on your computer.
Step2
Click on the Add/Remove Program icon. This is the place to go to officially get rid of your unwanted iPod or any other programs. It will take you through a process similar to the one you went through when installing the program, only this time it should be faster.
Step3
Find the iPod programs you wish to delete among the programs installed on your computer. If you still wish to use your iPod, take caution when deleting these programs. Getting rid of all the iPod software may mean that you will have to download the programs again to operate your iPod on your computer. It may also cause you to lose some information you had on your iPod software, such as songs and set lists.
Step4
Click the Change/Remove button to the left of the program you wish to remove. Your computer will tell you that it is taking you to the installation wizard for that particular program. Don’t be freaked out, as it’s actually taking you to a place where you can delete the program. Click "OK" when the program is done loading.
Step5
Confirm that you want to uninstall the program. A computer will always ask you if you are sure before you do something that could drastically change your computer layout.
Step6
Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the other iPod programs you wish to remove. If you are just looking to clear up space and not entirely remove your iPod software, keep in mind that you can safely delete older updates as long as you keep the newest one.
