A ring bearer’s pillow is a special keepsake for you to use at your wedding. It also serves the purpose of making sure your wedding rings do not get lost. Making your own ring bearer’s pillow is a special privilege as it will be something that comes from the heart that you can keep forever.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9- x 9-inch pillow form
  • 1 yard of satin
  • Textured fabric
  • Needle and thread
  • Ribbon
  • Fabric Trim
  1. Step 1

Choose your fabric. You will need a couple of different colors as well as a smooth satin fabric and a rough textured fabric. Your fabrics can be white, or they can match the colors of the bridal party.

  2. Step 2

Cut your satin fabric to 10-inches x 20-inches. This will be the base of your ring bearer’s pillow cover.

  3. Step 3

Fold your satin fabric into an envelope pillowcase shape, being sure to fold down the top raw edge. Sew each end closed, turn your pillow cover right side out, and insert your pillow form. Hand-sew the seam closed.

  4. Step 4

Cut your textured fabric to 5-inches x 20-inches. Sew ribbon and fabric trim along the length of each side of the strip covering the raw edges.

  5. Step 5

Wrap your embellished textured fabric around the center of the pillow form covering the seam on the back of the satin pillow. Fold the raw edge under and sew it in place with tiny, even stitches.

  6. Step 6

Fold a piece of ribbon in half. This can be wide or narrow, satin or textured. You may want to choose a piece of ribbon that has sentimental value like a piece of lace from mom’s wedding dress, or a piece of ribbon from your christening dress. Sew this ribbon to the center of the pillow. You can now use the ribbon to tie your wedding rings to the center of the pillow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Give yourself plenty of time to make your ring bearer's pillow so it can be special.
  • If possible get fabric from the bridal store to match your dress or your bridesmaid's dresses.
  • Try to get fabric to match the men's vests for the center of your pillow.
  • Let your ring bearer know in advance that he will have to give up the pillow when he is done. If you think he will give you a hard time, trade it for a toy truck.
