Converting files isn't difficult if you have the right software. Use Adobe Photoshop or another professional graphics program like Corel Draw to go from .bmp to .jpg in a flash. The instructions here deal with Adobe Photoshop only; you can download a free trial from the Adobe website (see Resources below). If you are not using Photoshop, the steps will be almost the same.
Go to File>Save As and under format, choose "jpeg" from the drop-down list. If using Adobe Photoshop, a box will appear with jpeg options. If not using Photoshop, this box may or may not appear depending on your software.
Make sure that the file has saved with a .bmp extension if you are not using Adobe Photoshop, and you're done. For Photoshop users: Move the slider to the left to decrease file size and image quality. You also have a couple of other options; choose whatever works for you. If your file size is small, you can keep the quality bumped up to maximum and Choose "Baseline Standard" for the other options available.
