The ukulele is a fun instrument to play and sing along with. It is made in many different shapes, sizes and colors. This instrument can be used in many styles of music including Hawaiian, Contemporary, Reggae and country. The F7 chord is commonly used in the key of F. When playing in the key of F, the F7 chord usually follows the F chord to give it a higher pitch. Here's how to play the F7 chord.

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Hold the ukulele body with the right arm while in a comfortable sitting or standing position. Keep the back upright. Place the back of the ukulele body near the abdomen area with the strings facing away from the body.
Step2
Use the left hand to hold the neck of the ukulele near the string spacer. The string spacer is located near the top of the ukulele and used to separated the strings on the neck. Rest the neck between the left thumb and left index finger.
Step3
Place the left index finger on E string, which is second from the bottom on the first bar between the string spacer and first fret. Keep the left finger on the bar but without touching the string spacer, first fret or any other strings.
Step4
With the left middle finger, hold down the G or top string on the second bar between the first and second fret. Make sure that the left middle finger is not touching either of the frets or any other strings.
Step5
F7 Hold down the C string or second from the top string on the third bar between the second and third fret. Hold all of the assigned strings down firmly as well as the left thumb on the back of the neck directly behind the left index finger. With the right hand, gently strum over all four strings near the center of the ukulele body to hear the F7 chord.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ukulele strings from top to bottom are assigned G, C, E and A.
  • "Frets" are metal strips that are located on the neck of the ukulele. The "bar" is the area located between the frets.
