If you have a concrete driveway you will have to deal with a myriad of stains. You will have oil stains, dirt stains, and even rust stains. The good news is these stains can be removed with simple household staples and it will not cost you a fortune to have the clean concrete you deserve.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Water
  • Bristled scrub brush
  • Knife
  • Lemons
  • Vinegar
Step1
Start by rolling your lemon on the ground to get the lemon prepped to be juiced.
Step2
Cut the lemon in half and squeeze it directly on the rust stain.
Step3
Allow the lemon juice to penetrate the rust stain for five minutes.
Step4
Take the scrub brush and scrub the stain until it is removed, or as close to being removed as possible.
Step5
Rinse the stain with water. If the stain is removed you are done. If you still have stain remaining move on to step six.
Step6
Pour undiluted vinegar on what remains of your rust stain.
Step7
Allow to penetrate the stain for five minutes.
Step8
Scrub with your brush and rinse. Repeat if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

  • I find that with rust stains the one to punch of the acid in both the lemon juice and vinegar is the most natural approach.
  • If you have plants around the area in which you are working make sure they are covered so that the lemon and vinegar are not able to damage them.
