  1. How to Make a Fabric Shower Curtain

    • 1

Determine how much fabric is needed. Most shower curtains are approximately 72" x 72" but fabric is sold in 45" and 54" widths. Therefore you'll have to purchase two panels and sew them together. Be sure to add 8" to the length to accommodate a hem at the top and bottom of the curtain.

    • 2

Fold , cut, and sew. Folding the fabric lengthwise will give you the two panels needed. Cut in two and sew together. Any excess can be trimmed later. Be sure to leave room for a small hem on each side.

    • 3

Create a rod pocket. Here's where you'll use the 8 " of fabric you alloted for earlier. Fold 1/2” of fabric and crease, then fold 3” to make a hem. Press the crease and sew in place. Fold the bottom of the fabric twice to create 2" hem. Press the crease and add drapery weights if you so wish. Sew.

    • 4

Create grommet holes. They should be spaced approximately 6" apart and the first and lost hole should be 1" below the top and 3" from each side. Silver and gold colored grommets are very common.

    • 5

Insert shower hooks and hang curtain. Hooks come in various colors and designs and can be easily matched with your curtain and bathroom decor.
