The purpose of having a wireless home lighting system is so that turning lights and appliances on and off can be accomplished by remote control. In order for this to happen, the system must be calibrated so that each controlled switch functions as it should when it should. Calibrating the system simply means making sure that all switches, components, relays, and other parts of the system are getting the same message at the same time. Here is how to calibrate a wireless home lighting system.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Remote control for switches
  1. Step 1

Calibrate your remote control module first. Make sure that all buttons on the remote control switches are in the "Off" position. This includes any dimming switches that may be controlled by the remote.

  2. Step 2

Decide which setting you will calibrate your system to. Use the flat-head screwdriver to turn the switch to the appropriate designation. (See Tips section for more information).

  3. Step 3

Decide how many lights you want to calibrate. Your remote control will have a designated number of buttons and identifying spaces showing how many it will support.

  4. Step 4

Press the "On" button beside each light button that you will be using. In other words, if you will be calibrating the system for seven lights, press the "On" button beside seven of the switches.

  5. Step 5

Now, calibrate your wall module Begin by setting the right wall switch to the setting that matches the one to which you calibrated the remote control module (A or B, 1 or 2, etc.).

  6. Step 6

Using your flat-head screwdriver, click the left wall switch to the exact number of lights that you calibrated the remote control module for. In other words, if you calibrated the remote control module for seven lights, then click the left wall switch exactly seven times.

  7. Step 7

Turn the power back on, and check the system to see if it is working properly. Make any necessary adjustments.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your settings may be marked “A, B” or “1, 2” or some other similar designation (refer to Step 3).
  • Remember that whatever setting you choose in Step 3 is the setting you will use throughout the entire calibration process.
  • MAKE SURE THE POWER IS STILL OFF WHEN CALIBRATING THE SYSTEM. Severe electric shock can result, causing injury or death.
  • After checking the system to see if it is functioning properly, TURN THE POWER OFF AGAIN, if any adjustments are necessary.
