      Open the application. To open and run the program you will need to left-click on the application icon.

      Load the image. To load an image left-click on the “File” tab on the command bar and scroll to “Open.” Browse to the desired image file and click “Open” to load it into the program.

      Add edge effects to the image. There are several edge effects that you can easily add to an image in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI. To do this scroll to the “Effects” tab on the command bar; a submenu will open. Scroll to “Edge Effects” and highlight; an edge effects menu will open.

      Select the desired effect. There are several effects you can add to the edge of your image they include: Dilate (which adds light dilation to your image), enhance and enhance more (which enhances the detail of the image), erode (which erodes the clarity of the image), find all (which eliminates everything but major lines in the image), find horizontal (which erases everything but the horizontal lines in the image), find vertical (which erases everything but the vertical lines in the image), high pass (which adds a high pass light filter to the image) and trace contour (which creates a trace of the image). Add the desired effect by left-clicking on it.

      Save the image. To save your image scroll to the “File” tab on the command bar and select “Save As.” Save the image to the desired location in the desired image format.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are plenty of cool and different edge effects that you can add to your image. Play around to find the one that best suits your needs.

  • Make sure and save a copy of the image before adding any effects so you can go back if you need to.
