How to Add Drop Shadows with Coloring to Paint Shop Pro Photo XI
Graphic design programs enable us to create detailed and high resolution images which can be used for a variety of different things. From website design to creating custom business cards, the applications of graphical design software are virtually endless. One of the more common features used in most graphics programs is that of being able to add shadowing effects to images and text.

Open the program. You will need to left-click on the application icon to load the program and use it.

Load the image. To open the image scroll to the “File” tab on the command bar and select “Open.” Browse to the desired image file and click “Open.”

Scroll the “Effects” tab on the command bar; a submenu will open. Select “3D Effects” and scroll to “Drop Shadow.” A drop shadow properties box will open. There will be a preview box on one side and a shadow manipulation box in the middle. To change the angle that the shadow drops, drag the shadow pointer in the manipulation box to the desired location; the preview box will show you what the drop shadow looks like on the image as you drag the pointer. To change the color of the drop shadow, click on the color palette inside of the “Color” box; a palette will open. Select the desired color and click "OK.” Click the “OK” button to implement the shadow.

Save the image. To save the image, scroll to the “File” tab on the command bar and select “Save As.” Choose the desired file format and location and click “Save.”

Tips & Warnings
Play around with different angles of shadows and colors to get the desired effect. You can also add shadows to text by follow the same steps on your text layers.
Always save a copy of the image before you make any changes so you can go back if needed.
