How to Safely Use a Funyak
When traveling in the water, there are several modes of transportation available, including boats, tubes, your body, surfboards and the inflatable kayak known as a Funyak. Before using a Funyak, there are several tips you should follow to make sure that you are safe when out on the water.

1
Always wear a life vest. It may not seem like the cool thing to do, but if you become stranded in rocky rapids, or are miles out into an ocean or lake, you will need to save all the energy you can and let the life vest support your weight.
-
2
Make sure the Funyak is full of air. You do not want the Funyak to become short of air in the middle of a trip, so double-check every section of your craft before heading into the water.

3
Stay seated or kneeling when you are riding in a Funyak. It's very rare that a Funyak will flip, but the chances are greatly increased if you are standing during your trip.
-
4
Avoid splashing with your paddle while using a Funyak. You could easily lose a paddle by letting it slip out of your hands, and it could also damage another person nearby. Bring a bucket or a squirt gun if you feel the need to douse others.
-
5
Move your body toward any rocks if you are traveling through a fast-paced river in a Funyak. This way, water will come underneath your Funyak and you'll safely pass over the rock without getting stuck.
-
6
Keep your hands out as wide as possible when paddling. This will spread the paddling pressure out to your whole body instead of just your arms and help avoid any pain later on. You will also find this paddling method much easier.
-
7
Kneel inside your Funyak if you are struggling with paddling while sitting. This will give yourself a little more height as you travel in the Funyak.
-
8
Take a rest every hour or so and bring the Funyak upon shore. This will allow you to rest your leg and stretch before heading out onto the water again.
