They may be small, but Christmas stockings can be expensive to fill. This is true whether you're shopping for children or adults. If you want to cut the cost, you need to find free stocking stuffers. Believe it or not, you can find gifts for everyone on your list without spending a dime. You just need to know where to look.

From Quick Guide: Stress-Proof Your Holiday
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit company websites. Company websites often offer gifts for taking short surveys or signing up for their newsletter. You may receive a coupon for a free product or even a free T-shirt. Either way, these items make great stocking stuffers.

  2. Step 2

Order freebies. While you're online, look for websites that list freebies. These websites will have links to company websites offering free items. You may find a razor or even stickers. Be sure to check every category so that you find something for everyone on your list. This step helps ensure you find all the companies offering free stocking stuffers.

  3. Step 3

Look for promotions. As the holidays approach, companies will start rolling out new promotions. You might get a free travel mug for buying gas or even a free gift certificate for buying groceries. If you need to buy these items, it only makes sense to take advantage of the promotion.

  4. Step 4

Attend demonstrations. Many sellers set up in discount department stores. They give a short demonstration of the product they are selling and then give away a free gift. Sometimes you'll get free jewelry and other times you may get coupons. It all depends on the product being sold.

  5. Step 5

Open your craft box. The number one place to find free stocking stuffers is your craft box. Depending on which crafts you do, you may be able to make a small scrapbook or even a bookmark. A few scrap supplies can easily be turned into great stocking stuffers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Freebies can take 4 to 6 weeks to be delivered. Start filling out the forms early enough for the items to arrive on time.
