Working toward a toe lock in yoga can be quite the challenge. Work into the move in incremental steps, and soon enough, you'll be locked.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Flexibility
  • Toes
  • A yoga mat (optional)
Step1
Extended Seated Position Start seated with your legs extended. Slowly work your hands down your legs until they read your ankles. Breathe deeply. Then work your way close to your toes, bending at the hips, and allowing your thumb and first two fingers to wrap around your big toes. You may bend your knees if needed.
Step2
Open up one leg, right tor left, and walk your hands down your extended leg. Whichever leg is open, reach with the same side arm and execute a toe lock. For example, if your right leg is extended, reach to your toes with your right hand.
Step3
Come into a standing position. Bend all the way over and take a toe lock. If your hands do not reach your toes, bend your knees until you reach them.
Step4
Try the standing toe lock; however, remember that it is an advanced pose.
