Step 1
Wash your face twice a day to remove dead cells and bacteria. Large pores can be a haven for oil and bacteria which can cause acne flare-ups. When pores are clean and free from oil, they look smaller.
-
Step 2
Cleanse your face with a product containing salicylic acid to remove excessive dead skin cells. Skin that has large pores is usually thick and skin cells can build up around pores making them look larger.
-
Step 3
Clarify your face with an astringent, such as witch hazel or a product that contains witch hazel. Witch hazel is a natural plant used since ancient times to refresh and soothe skin and shrink large pores. It contains a small amount of alcohol after processing, so be careful not to use too much or it could be drying.
-
Step 4
Apply sunblock to avoid sun exposure. Pore size often increases with age and sun damage because the skin loses it elasticity, causing pores to dilate.
-
Step 5
Treat your face with microdermabrasion at a spa or buy a microdermabrasion kit for at-home use. Microdermabrasion removes the top layers of skin cells, making skin look smoother and pores smaller.
-
Step 6
Use a face wash or cream containing retinol or vitamin C. These antioxidants remove debris from cells while boosting collagen and elastin production, making your skin stronger so your pores stay smaller.
