How to Keep Deer From Eating Flowers

Make your garden smell like humans. If you want to go deer hunting, you would use products that hide your human scent. If you want to scare deer away, you would use products and items that have a strong human scent. Go to local hairdressers and ask for hair clippings to spread around the perimeter of your flower bed. Tie a bar of hand soap from trees at waist height. Use a product human waste fertilizer called milorganite to spread among your flowers.

Add the scent of other animals to your garden. You can get dog hair clipping from the local pet groomer. You can also add chicken manure to spread amongst your flowers and keep deer away

Add plants that deer don’t like to your garden. They include garlic, thorn bushes, bamboo, and various trees. They also won’t eat Lady’s Mantle, Fox glove, St. John’s Wart, Poppy, and most strong smelling herbs.

Create a physical barrier. Run clear fishing line from posts around the perimeter of the garden. When deer feel the invisible barrier, it will scare them away. There are also deer fencing available that are difficult to see, but sturdy enough to keep deer out of your plant.

Use commercial deer barriers. You can purchase an electric fence that keeps the deer out. These fences emit a shock when touched by the deer, which scares them away. You can also purchase deer sprays that you will need to reapply after each rain.

Tips & Warnings
Many recommend that you hang mothballs in the same manner that you would hang soap, but mothballs are very toxic to humans and pets. Its effectiveness is also questionable.
