How to Buy Used Couches
Couches are a must for living rooms, family rooms and office waiting rooms but like most furniture, they aren't cheap. You can save a bundle if you opt for used couches over brand-new pieces. You'll be quite happy you purchased used versus new, particularly if you find couches that are in good condition and stylish. Here are some ways to find used couches. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

-
1
Measure the area where you want to put the couch. Calculate the minimum and maximum size you want the couch to be.
-
2
Determine the type of couch you ideally want. It's good to be flexible when shopping for used coaches but it's also helpful to have some direction as this helps you to narrow your search. If you prefer an L-shaped couch to a traditional one, mark this down. Think about fabric types as well.

3
Search your local Craigslist for used couch offerings. Narrow your search by typing in specific characteristics you want such as "leather couch" or "convertible couch."
-
4
Look for postings that feature photos of the couches for sale. It saves you a lot of time and gas money if you can eliminate options via photos. You can then only visit your top choices to view the couches in person.
-
5
Go to the seller's house to view the couch for sale. Check for any defects on the couch. Look for scuffs on the couch's base and any tears or stains on the couch. If you notice defects but still like the couch, talk to the seller about reducing the price.
-
6
Bring enough cash to the viewing so you can purchase the couch on the spot, if you wish. Bring a large enough vehicle to transport the couch. This way you can save yourself multiple trips.
-
7
Search eBay or other auction sites for used couches. Remember that shipping costs on large items can quickly increase the overall price.
-
8
Visit garage sales in your neighborhood. You can often get amazing deals on used couches at these home sales. People often just want to get rid of the furniture and will quickly lower the price to make a sale.
-
9
Go to large thrift stores such as Goodwill and The Salvation Army to view their used couch offerings. You can often find couches for great prices at these second-hand stores.

It may be wise to get the couch cleaned after you purchase it. You can get couches and other furniture items steam-cleaned for reasonable prices.

Thanks for the tips. I would also suggest taking a tape measure with you to measure the couch you intend buying. Take the measurements of how high your stud (or ceilling) is and how high and wide your doorways are - this ensures you can actually get the couch into your home/lounge! Remember BIGGER couches arent always the BEST couches! -
