Draw Skew Lines in Geometry

Think of a shooting star in the sky, and a train on the Earth. They both travel in a straight line, but they will never intersect because they are on different planes. This is true of skew lines. It's a way to think three-dimensionally. All you need to do is grab a ruler, a pencil and paper. You'll learn how to draw skew lines and write the equation.

Instructions

  1. How to Draw Skew Lines in Geometry

    • 1

Use a ruler to draw a straight line.

    • 2

Draw another straight line going toward your first line, but make sure the lines do not intersect.

    • 3

Draw arrows on the ends of the lines.

    • 4

On each line, put two dots.

    • 5

Label the dots. For example, one line with be labeled CD, and the other, EF.

    • 6

Write your equation. To do this, write CD. Over the top, draw a line with two arrows on the end. Leave a space and write the word "and." Then, write EF, again with a line over the top. Write "are skew." The full equation will read, "CD and EF are skew."
