It can be tough finding a good data entry job from home, but if you know how to go about it, it doesn't have to be tough!

From Quick Guide: Data Entry Basics
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Resume
  • Sample of work
  1. Step 1

Never pay to find a job! So many places want a small fee, but they do not tell you, until you have paid that fee, that they can't guarantee you a data entry job. This means they either "show" available data entry jobs or they lead you to many more places that offer data entry jobs. You basically end up going in circles.

  2. Step 2

Look at the more popular search results. When you search for "data entry from home," you will come up with many results. Only look for one with the keywords you suggested in them. You might find GetAFreelancer, Elance and RentACoder, among others, in your search results (see Resources below). Many of these sites allow you to "bid" on jobs, which can be great because you get paid only what you are willing to be paid. And you get to do it all from the comfort of your own home, if you choose.

  3. Step 3

Join popular forums for data entry jobs from home. Forums are an excellent place to learn about new and popular existing data entry jobs that you can do from home. You can also find out about any "scamming" data entry jobs that are out there, so you can avoid them.

  4. Step 4

Consider starting your own data entry business. By having your own home data entry business, you can market and advertise your service and start getting clients at your own rates, but it involves much more work.

  5. Step 5

Have an up-to-date resume and some sample work ready. With data entry, this can be a bit trickier, but it never hurts to have something you have recently done to show your potential employer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not give up! You won't necessarily find a job and automatically get it. You must be patient and allow time to find something.
