The Philadelphia or Philly cheesesteak is a true American delicacy many people all over the country enjoy. Delicious, but high in fat and calories. Here we will teach you how to make a reduced fat, but true Philadelphia cheeseteak.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 medium onion, sliced very thin
  • 2 green or red sweet peppers (or combination), sliced very thin
  • 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 lbs. extra lean (9 percent fat) beef tenderloin, sliced very thin
  • 6 slices (1 oz. each) part-skim mozarella
  • 6 soft Italian rolls, split
  1. Step 1

    In the large skillet, saute the onions and peppers in oil.

  2. Step 2

    Add the garlic salt and and black pepper.

  3. Step 3

    Pour the mixture into a bowl and set aside.

  4. Step 4

    In the same skillet, pan-fry the steak until it is brown. Remove it before it turns crispy.

  5. Step 5

    Add the onions and peppers.

  6. Step 6

    Place the cheese on the meat until it is slightly melted.

  7. Step 7

    Use the spoon to transfer the cheese, steak, onions and peppers on the rolls and enjoy a delicious, healthier piece of history.
