How to Make a Tuna Steak

There are many benefits that come with eating fish. Tuna, especially, has a lot to offer. It is high in protein and low in fat, and health experts say it contains omega-3 fatty acids that assist in lowering blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels. Tuna is, no doubt, an excellent food source when you’re concerned about eating healthy. Canned tuna is very popular. You can make a quick and easy tuna salad with canned tuna. When you’re on the go or on a time schedule, canned tuna is a time saver. But if you’re thinking about dinner, you may want to make tuna steaks. Not only do tuna steaks taste wonderfully delicious, they are as easy as tuna salad to prepare and they put a gourmet touch to your dinner. The steps below will guide you when preparing a tuna steak dinner for two.

Things You'll Need:

  • Two eight-ounce tuna steaks
  • One-half tablespoon cracked black pepper
  • One rounded tablespoon wasabi powder
  • Two tablespoons sesame oil
  • Two tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • Two tablespoons soy sauce
  • Four tablespoons white wine
  • Four tablespoons chicken broth (low sodium)
  • A handful of shredded scallions
  • Canned fried onion rings
  • A frying pan
  • A flat plate
  • A small bowl

    How to Make a Tuna Steak

  1. Step 1

    Spread cracked black pepper out on plate and press both sides of tuna steaks into black pepper, making sure all sides are covered.

  2. Step 2

    Over a medium flame, heat sesame oil in frying pan, add tuna steaks and cook until they are cooked as you like them. Remove tuna steaks from pan when done, put them on a dish and cover them to keep them warm.

  3. Step 3

    In bowl, mix together teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, white wine, chicken broth and wasabi powder.

  4. Step 4

    Pour mixture into same frying pan and bring to a low boil for one minute, stirring consistently.

  5. Step 5

    Pour liquid over tuna steaks and top with scallions and canned fried onion rings.

  6. Step 6

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like your tuna steaks without any sauce, stop after step two and top with scallions.
