Instructions

    • 1

Jot down a list of all those to whom you want to send thank you cards. Include on that list what each person's contribution has been, such as the wedding party, wedding planner, preacher, guest or other helper.

    • 2

Write the thank you cards out. Don't type them. It was perfectly fine to do have printed wedding invitations, however, thank you cards are your way of putting the personal touch of your gratitude to all those involved. Though it will be more time consuming, a handwritten note will go a long way to show your thanks to all those involved at your wedding.

    • 3

Cater each note to what that individual did for you. Don't make the mistake of making a generic note. Each note should only be two to four lines, but make it personal and try to mention something special about their contribution. Often, wedding participants will mention to others in the party that they received a thank you card and might share the sentiments with them. If they all end up being the same, then it can make some of the attendees at the wedding feel like a number, rather than an important person at your special event.

    • 4

Hand write the envelopes as well. Although it would be easier, handwritten envelopes had a personal touch. It tells your attendees that you cared enough to take time out of your busy schedule to think enough of them to send a personal greeting.

    • 5

Place the thank you cards in the envelope, affix stamps to them and mail. Depending upon how many you are sending out, you can place them in your mailbox or make a trip down to the local post office. Unless you know the party you are giving the thank yous to very well, it is recommended to mail them to every attendees at the wedding.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to assign someone who will be attending the wedding the task of taking notes of what each attendee contributed. This way, it will make it easier to personalize your thank you cards once you are ready to send them out.
