When your pet and home become infested with fleas, so does your clothing. It's important to treat your clothing so that your house doesn't become re-infested after treating it and so you don't carry into your car, office, and other people's homes. For the most part, treating your clothing is easy, but you must be vigilant and continue treating and re-treating until you're sure the fleas are gone.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Vacuum all carpeted areas in home daily. Do not forget your closet. If you have items stored on your closet floor, move them and wash them.
Step2
Sprinkle Borax on your closet floor.
Step3
Allow the Borax to sit on the carpet over night, then vacuum the floor again.
Step4
Sprinkle diatomaceous earth (D.E.) around the closet floor.
Step5
Wash all of your clothing in hot water.
Step6
Spray your clothing with DEET-containing repellent and allow it to dry completely before wearing. Do not apply DEET on your skin or on pets.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum, and vacuum some more.
  • Fleas will not tend to infest your clothing in particular. They will want to be where they can feed, so make sure to treat your entire home and your pets all at the same time. Treating one area at a time or treating the home without treating the pets or vice versa will not cure your flea problem completely.
