How to Live an Adventurous Life After 50
Some people wrongly believe that excitement in life should be relegated to the young. They cling to the stereotype that suggests that, when one reaches a particular age, their existences should be sedate, predictable and dreary. This is a myth that you no longer have to accept. If you are over the age of 50, you can still live life at its most spectacular.

Having an Exciting Life in Your Later Years
-
1
Stay healthy. Watch what you eat, get plenty of exercise and see your doctor regularly to help keep in prime physical condition. No matter how old you are, you can always do something to improve your health. Consider using alternative therapies, such as homeopathy, acupuncture and the like as a compliment to your conventional healthcare. Holistic medicine deals with some chronic conditions, and has been known to succeed, in some cases, where more conventional treatments have failed. Keeping healthy is the first step to being able to embark on some adventure in life.

2
Be more open-minded. Throw out preconceived ideas about how a person who is your age is "supposed" to act or think. Listen to ideas, philosophies and opinions that are different from your own. Read books on topics you've never explored before and be willing to admit that your viewpoint isn't always right.

3
Live outside the box. It might be tempting to do the same old things in the same old way, because it's safe and familiar, but it can actually make you feel older. Make a commitment to get out and do things a little differently, on a regular basis. Go beyond the stereotypes society sets for someone your age.
-
4
Try doing something that involves a little risk. It could be anything from going white-water rafting to simply going up to people you don't know and introducing yourself, etc. This will help to "stretch" your personal limitations and make you more willing to take on more brand new experiences in the future.
-
5
Get out and meet new people. While, of course, you cherish those individuals who have been close to you over the years, that does not mean that you have to stop making new connections. Volunteer someplace or join a group, organization or club where you can form new associations with others. Adding more people to your list of friends expands your horizons, socially, and makes your life that much richer.
-
6
Travel. While doing this may cost more than it once did, there are reputable travel clubs you can join and trusted organizations, like the AARP, offer resources for travel discounts for its members. Go on a cruise to Alaska, visit an American landmark, see Paris for the first time or venture out to other places you've always dreamed of going. If that's not affordable right now, then take short trips to areas closer by.
-
7
Reawaken the "kid" in you. Laugh, have fun, be willing to be silly sometimes. The wonderful thing about children is that they are spontaneous. Follow their lead by allowing yourself to be impulsive, occasionally.
