Vasisthasana, or side plank, is an intermediate arm balancing pose that strengthens your abdominal muscles and legs.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Yoga mat

    Learn to Do Vasisthasana

  1. Step 1

    Begin in plank pose. Plank is like a high push-up. Your arms should be underneath your shoulders and your hips should be dropped and feet together.

  2. Step 2

    Bring your right hand to your midline.

  3. Step 3

    Roll onto the side of your right foot and bring your left hand toward the ceiling, parallel with your shoulders. Open your chest toward the ceiling.

  4. Step 4

    On an exhale, bring your left hand back to the mat and return to plank position.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat on the other side.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not eat for two hours before practicing yoga.
