  1. Preventing blisters

    • 1

If you do a lot of running or walking, get socks that are made for it. These types of socks will generally have a thicker or cushioned sole and heel. Get socks with a wicking material that keep the feet dry. Cotton socks will hold moisture and wet feet are more likely to get blisters.

    • 2

Having shoes that fit properly is important. Shoes that are too tight do not allow room for feet to expand. They can pinch and rub, causing blisters. Shoes that are too big can also cause blisters by creating friction with your socks and rubbing your feet raw..

    • 3

If you walk or run frequently, it's a good idea to have two or three pairs of properly fitting shoes and rotating between them. By rotating your shoes, you allow the insoles of the shoes to dry out between wearings. Dry shoes help prevent blisters.

    • 4

Women who wear high heels continuously are prone to blistering. It's a good idea to wear flats once in a while.

    • 5

Be kind to your feet. Whether walking, running or standing, your feet take the abuse. Use lotion often, and massage them regularly. If you are kind to your feet, they will be kind to you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even by following these tips, it's still possible to get a blister. If a blister occurs, cover it with a blister pad or bandage to prevent further friction.
