How to Immigrate from Australia to the United States

Are you searching for the “American dream?” There are thousands of people all over the world who want to enter the United States and become residents, but it is a long and sometimes arduous task, even when you do have all the right documentation and are eligible to immigrate. Many people want to immigrate from Australia to the United States. Although it is a country made up of immigrants, it is not as easy as you might think. However, there are actually a number of ways to immigrate there. The following are the basic immigration laws which allow you to immigrate to the United States.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

By birth. If you are born to an American, then that parent can solicit your citizenship through parentage. You have to be under 18 when your parent solicits your citizenship.

  2. Step 2

Get a work Visa. You can also get into the U.S. through a work visa, or by finding someone that is willing to hire you and give you work papers. Usually this is easier when you work in a field that is in high demand in the United States, such as the health field.

  3. Step 3

Get married to a U.S. citizen. It is usually easier and faster if you marry in Australia and then your spouse returns to the U.S. and asks permission from immigration to bring you into the country.

  4. Step 4

The U.S. Citizen Lottery System. There is an immigration lottery system where you can add your name. A certain number of people from different countries are drawn each year. This is probably the slowest and most uncertain way of acquiring U.S. citizenship as there are many names on the list and only a few are drawn every year.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your best bet for immigrating into the United States at this time is to either get married or go into a field like nursing or medicine and then soliciting employment. Employers in these fields are more than happy to help with the immigration paper work because there is such a demand in the field.
  • Otherwise the wait will be long and tiring unless you marry an U.S. citizen and then you must prove that you are marrying for the right reasons for a certain period of time. Currently there is no real, easy method of dealing with immigration into the United States.
