How to Stay Safe At a Party thumbnail
Keep your eyes on your drinks at all times.

When you go to a party you never expect the bad to happen, but there are times that it does. Protecting yourself from hurtful situations is important even though you want to let loose and just have a good time. Make sure you don't let your guard down so the party can end up being enjoyable. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

When you go out to a party make sure you are comfortable with the person throwing it and the place it's being held at. The worst thing in the world is to feel unsafe and vulnerable in a place and around people you don't know.

If you get a drink, hold onto it. Don't set it down, and don't give it to someone else to hold. Likewise, don't accept a drink from a stranger without knowing its source firsthand with your own two eyes. There are some people that would take advantage of you by slipping any number of drugs in your drink.

Don't get so drunk that you don't remember anything. Someone you don't know could take advantage of you and lure you into doing things you normally wouldn't do. You could also find yourself passed out and in physical danger not knowing where you are.

Use the buddy system. Have a friend who will have your back throughout the night, and make a pact to only stay with groups at the party. Keep your buddy and the group close to you so that nothing can happen without someone knowing about it.

Don't have sex or do anything sexual with a person you don't know -- and especially not when you're drinking. You could forget to use protection and then find yourself in a precarious situation.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do decide to drink at the party, know your limits. Always arrange in advance to have a designated driver who is not drinking take you home -- and make sure ahead of time that's it's someone you know and trust.
