Everyone who has worked has experienced having a lousy supervisor. What I mean by lousy is that they are so lazy, so pathetic, so insignificant it is both funny and sad at the same time. Here's how to deal with them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A Sense of Humor
  • Self-entitlement
  1. Step 1

The first thing you have to realize is that this supervisor has no power over you unless you let them have power. Frequently question their decisions, and while it might irritate them, it is also a way for you to exert your own power over them. Don't ever do anything without thinking to yourself, "Is this justified?".

  2. Step 2

Do what they tell you to do to a certain extent. Most of the time the request is reasonable. However, don't blindly do anything for them. Always question their decision-making abilities.

  3. Step 3

Circumvent their authority by talking directly to the higher-ups. If you want something done, forget the impotent supervisor and go to the bossman.

  4. Step 4

Identify the supervisor's weaknesses. Remember their faults and soft spots. You never know when you might have defend yourself in front of the bossman with the supervisor around. If the supervisor knows that you know these weaknesses, and they know that you'll exploit them if need be, be confident they'll keep their traps shut.

  5. Step 5

Like I said above, always put up a strong, resistant shield. Don't let them control you with their sudo-controlling ways. The bottom line is this: stand up for yourself, pick at their weaknesses, and situate yourself above this supervisor.

on 1/8/2009 Thanks for sharing! MY supervisor is an ass kissing person. She's rude and arrogant, but when the manager is around, she treats me nice.
