  1. Step 1

    Consult a doctor. Make sure you are fit enough to start a diet and exercise regime.

  2. Step 2

    Purchase good walking shoes. These shoes should be comfortable and fit well. If there is any pinching or gapping, do not purchase the shoes, but find better shoes.

  3. Step 3

    Find a good walking location or path. Make sure this path is well lit and clear of dangerous debris or traffic.

  4. Step 4

    Keep a record. By keeping a record or journal of the walking distance and speed, coupled with the weight tracking and inches tracking, one can keep track of the progress being made.
